APP: How Lakewood allowed a 'shopping mall' at Cedarbridge

LAKEWOOD – At the close of a public hearing in January during which residents criticized a large shopping center proposed for the Cedarbridge development, Committeeman Issac Akerman addressed the crowd and apologized.

It was not the intention of the township committee, he said, to allow a developer affiliated with Lakewood’s largest yeshiva to build a nearly 200,000-square-foot shopping plaza, called Lakewood Shopping Village, in a growing part of town struggling with traffic congestion.
